We head to the Homestead-Miami Speedway Sunday for the Dixie Vodka 400. Homestead is a 1.5 mile oval, and is steeply banked. The turns at Homestead are banked progressively from 18 degrees on the bottom groove to 20 degrees up near the wall. Usually Homestead hosts the final race of the season for all 3 major NASCAR series, but not this year. We found victory lane once again in the previous race at Martinsville, and hopefully we can again here at Homestead.
Here are a 5 drivers to consider for the Dixie Vodka 400.
Kevin Harvick +400- Kevin is the outright favorite to win at Homestead on Sunday afternoon. Kevin won the 2014 race here at Homestead, and over the last 2 races at Homestead has an average finish of 3.5. Kevin has always been one of the best drivers on the 1.5 mile intermediate tracks, and of course he just won at Atlanta back on Sunday. Kevin has the 3rd best driver rating of 122 at Homestead over the last 2 races, and I feel he is a solid choice to win on Sunday.
Martin Truex Jr. +500- Truex will start the race on Sunday at Homestead from the 6th position. Truex won the Homestead race in 2017, on the way to winning the Nascar Cup Championship. Truex has the best average driver rating of 126 at Homestead over the last 2 races. Truex has finished 2nd for two years in a row here at Homestead, and in the same time span ran 100 percent of his laps inside of the top 15. Expectation is that Truex will continue the momentum at Homestead coming off that victory at Martinsville.
Chase Elliott +700- Chase will start 5th alongside Truex on Sunday for the Dixie Vodka 400. Chase has merely been mediocre here at Homestead in his young career, and I am going to overlook past performance on Sunday. Since NASCAR resumed last month, Chase has been in a top 3 car at every track. Chase has the best average driver rating of 110 over the last 6 Nascar Cup races, and I feel he should be in contention here at Homestead in the final stage on Sunday.
Joey Logano +800- Joey won the 2018 race at Homestead and finished 5th in 2019. Joey has the 4th best average driver rating of 117.7 over the last 2 races here at Homestead, and also has an average 3rd place finish. Logano will start on the front row from the 2nd position on Sunday in the Dixie Vodka 400, so track position and pit stall selection should favor him. I feel we have value in Logano at +800, and striking early may be beneficial.
Ryan Blaney +1200- Ryan will begin the Dixie Vodka 400 from the 11th position on Sunday afternoon. Blaney has been ok at Homestead throughout his career, and I feel he has a great chance to step it up on Sunday. Blaney has been solid on the 1.5 mile ovals this season, and he achieved the 2nd most quality passes at Atlanta back on Sunday with 70. Blaney has 4 top 5 finishes over the last 6 Nascar Cup Series races, and I feel he will once again be in contention for the win on Sunday.
