We make our right back to Charlotte Motor Speedway for a prime time race in the Alsco 500. The race at Charlotte on Wednesday is 500 kilometers/ 208 laps, so significantly shorter distance than what we saw Sunday. I will be referencing the last 3 Coke 600s and the 2020 Las Vegas race below. We went 2 and 2 in Coke 600 down .26 of a unit, but still positive on the year at 1.78 units.
Here are a few matchups to consider for the Alsco 500 on Wednesday.
Alex Bowman -125 vs. Kevin Harvick -106
Bowman and Harvick have split the matchups I mentioned above 2 and 2. Bowman led 164 laps back on Sunday in the Coke 600, which was the most any driver led. Harvick finished 6th, but in no way was it exciting. Harvick took most of of the Coke 600 on Sunday to get to the top 10. Bowman will start 2nd and Harvick 16th on Wednesday. I just feel Bowman has a better car at Charlotte than Harvick.
Jeff’s Pick: Alex Bowman -125
Denny Hamlin-125 vs. Ryan Blaney -106
Blaney has gone 3-1 against Hamlin in the 4 races mentioned above. Denny had that awful issue before the 600 started back on Sunday, so we didn’t really see how competitive Denny could have been. Ryan showed great speed on Sunday in the Coke 600, and he also had the best green flag speed at Las Vegas back in February.
Jeff’s Pick: Ryan Blaney -106
Joey Logano -115 vs. Jimmie Johnson-115
Joey has won 3 of the last 4 races against Jimmie in the races mentioned above. Joey won the Las Vegas race back in February, and Joey had the 3rd best average driver rating heading into the Coke 600 for this year. Jimmie will start last on Wednesday night, as he failed postrace inspection after the Coke 600 on Sunday. I love what we are seeing from Jimmie and the Hendrick team this year, but for the Alsco 500 I will take Joey.
Jeff’s Pick: Joey Logano-115
Matt DiBenedetto -118 vs. Clint Bowyer -112
Matt and Clint have split match ups 2-2 over the 4 races mentioned above. Matt was not in elite equipment in 2018 and 2019, but is now with the Wood Brothers. Clint crashed in the 600 on Sunday after a part suddenly broke. Clint will start 39th and Matt will start 4th for this shorter race. I like Matt by just a hair over Clint for the Alsco 500.
Jeff’s Pick: Matt DiBenedetto -118
