UFC Fight Night 246 takes place on Saturday from the Rogers Place in Edmonton Alberta, and it should be a money-making card. Let’s take a look at free play on each of the main card fights to make your Saturday a winning one.
Brandon Moreno vs Amir Albazi
Moreno -175 / Albazi +145 // Total Rounds: 4.5
Brandon Moreno and Amir Albazi face off in a flyweight bout that was originally supposed to take place back in February, but because of injuries to Albazi, it kept getting pushed off. Moreno has lost two fights in a row, but he has been battling tough competition. Moreno’s last fight came against Brandon Royval and it was a split decision loss. Amir Albazi sits with a 17-1 record but his last fight came all the way back in June of last year. The layoff does give me a bit of concern, but there is too much value with a fighter that is +145. Back Albazi on the money line.
Erin Blanchfield vs Rose Namajunas
Blanchfield -130 / Namajunas +110 // Total Rounds: 4.5
Rose Namaunas is one of my favorite fighters, and I have made a ton of money on her over my career, but I have to bet against her here. Namaunas hasn’t been the same fighter since moving to flyweight and Erin Blanchfield has been impressive. Blanchfield sits with a 12-2 record overall and is going to bounce back from her last loss here. Blanchfield is averaging 5.47 significant strikes per minute and her pressure is going to be too much here. Back Blanchfield on the money line.
Derrick Lewis vs Jhonata Diniz
Lewis +140 / Diniz -160 // Total Rounds: 1.5
The one thing you know when Derrick Lewis steps into the octagon is you actually have no idea what your going to get. Lewis actually kept some in his gas tank in his last fight and he was able to get the finish in the third round. There is a solid chance that Lewis does end up losing, but if he does win, i’m not going to be on the wrong side of the bet. I will take my chances here with Lewis as the underdog.
Caio Machado vs Brendson Ribeiro
Machado -148 / Riberio +128 // Total Rounds: 1.5
This is 100 percent a stay away fight for me. Machado is moving down to light heavyweight for the first time, and no one knows how his body is going to respond to that. Machado probably wins, but not knowing the weight cut issues, we will stay away.
Marc-Andre Barriault vs Dustin Stoltzfus
Barriault -205 / Stolzfus +170 // Total Rounds: 2.5
Dustin Stoltzfus probably is going to be off the UFC roster after this fight, and it feels like the UFC set up Marc-Andre Barriault to open up the main card with a win. Barriault has lost two fights in a row but he’s going to bounce back in a big way here. His power is going to be too much, and he will start the main card of with a bang. Back Barriault by knockout.
