Raoni Barcelos and Trevin Jones face off on Saturday in a bantamweight showdown at UFC Fight Night 211 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
Raoni Barcelos comes into this fight with a 16-3 record overall but he has lost two fights in a row. Barcelos in his last fight came against Victory Henry in January and he was outstruck 181-134 and that led to the unanimous decision loss. He did have one takedown in that fight. The last win came in November of 2020 and that was by a unanimous victory. Barcelos is averaging 5.98 significant strikes per minute while absorbing 5.64 significant strikes per minute. He is averaging 1.66 takedowns and he is successful on 43 percent of his takedown attempts. He also stops 92 percent of his opponent's takedown attempts. He is also averaging 0.5 submission attempts every 15 minutes.
On the other side of this fight is Trevin Jones who sits with a 13-8 record overall but since coming into the UFC he has lost three of his last four fights. In March of 2022 against Javid Basharat, he was outstruck 89-62, and that led to the unanimous decision loss. Jones is averaging 2.90 significant strikes per minute while absorbing 5.00 significant strikes per minute. Jones is averaging 0.71 takedowns every 15 minutes and is successful on 12 percent of the takedown attempts. He is also stopping 71 percent of his opponent's takedown attempts. Jones probably won’t be trying a submission attempt this year.
Barcelos loves to throw out the significant strikes and Jones is absorbing 5.00 significant strikes since joining the UFC. I expect Barcelos is going to wear down Jones here, and he’s going to have no answer for all the damage he is taking.
