Irene Aldana and Macy Chiasson face off on Saturday in a women’s bantamweight bout on the main card of UFC 279 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Aldana is ranked 4th in the division while Chiasson is ranked 10th.
Irene Aldana comes into this fight with a 13-6 record overall and he has won three of his last four fights. Aldana has had a bit of a layoff with her last fight coming against Yana Kunitskaya in July of 2021. In that fight, she outstruck her opponent 37-24 and late in the first round she was able to finish the fight by knockout. Aldana is averaging 5.61 significant strikes per minute while absorbing 5.94 significant strikes per minute. Aldana is averaging 0.22 takedowns every 15 minutes and she is successful on 50 percent of her takedown attempts. She also stops 84 percent of her opponents takedown attempts. She is also averaging 0.1 submission attempts every 15 minutes.
On the other side of this fight is Macy Chiasson and she sits with a 9-2 record overall. She has won three of her last four fights and in her last fight she was able to beat Norma Dumont in her last fight. Chiasson was outstruck 38-32, but she had six takedowns and that was enough for a split decision victory. Two fights ago against Raquel Pennington she was defeated by a Guillotine choke. Chiasson is averaging 3.70 significant strikes per minute while absorbing 2.56 significant strikes per minute. She is averaging 1.95 successful takedowns every 15 minutes but is only successful on 33 percent of his takedown attempts. He also stops 64 percent of his opponent's takedown attempts.
The odds of this fight are a bit off I think, and this game should be closer to pick em. I think Chiasson is going to use her reach advantage to get the the fight to the ground, and once it’s there she will be able to control the fight. Back Chiasson to pull the upset and cash this plus money bet.
