UFC on ESPN 40: Ariane Lipski vs. Priscila Cachoeira Picks and Predictions
Ariane Lipski and Priscila Cachoeira face off on Saturday on the main card of UFC on ESPN 40 in a women’s flyweight showdown at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
Ariane Lipski comes into this fight with a 14-7 record overall but she has lost two of her last three fights. Lipski’s last fight came against Mandy Bohm in September of 2021 and she won that fight by unanimous decision. Lipski outstruck Bohm 87-36 and she also had two knockdowns in that fight. Lipski is averaging 3.33 significant strikes per minute while absorbing 3.90 significant strikes per minute. She is averaging 0.19 takedowns every 15 minutes and she is successful on 20 percent of her takedown attempts. She also stops 55 percent of her takedown attempts. She is also averaging 0.4 submission attempts every 15 minutes.
On the other side of this fight is Priscila Cachoeira who sits with an 11-4 record overall and she has won three of her last fights. Cachoeira’s last fight came against Ji-Yeon Kim in February of 2022 and that was a win by unanimous decision. Cachoeira was actually outstruck 170-102, but she still won by unanimous decision. She is averaging 4.46 significant strikes per minute while absorbing 7.91 significant strikes per minute. Cachoeira is averaging 0.21 successful takedowns every 15 minutes and is successful on 33 percent of his takedown attempts. He also stops 65 percent of his takedown attempts.
Either way you want to bet on this fight, it’s not once that you want to bet a whole lot of money on. Cachoeira can finish a fight at any time, but she isn’t the more skilled fighter in this one. Lipski is a more technical fighter, and she is going to avoid the knockout power of Cachoeira. Lipski is going to control the pace of the fight and that will be the difference as she is able to secure the victory. I understand why some people might want to throw a few dollars on Cachoeira but if you are betting on her, the only real chance for her to win is with a knockout. I don’t have a lot of faith in that and Lipski will cash the money line bet.
