Calvin Kattar comes into this fight with a 23-5 record overall and he has won three of his last four fights. Kattar’s last fight came against Giga Chikadze in January of 2022 he outstruck Chikadze 144-128 and that led to the unanimous decision victory. Three fights ago against Dan Ige, Kattar also won by unanimous decision. Kattar is averaging 5.19 significant strikes per minute while absorbing 7.64 significant strikes per minute. Mostly he likes to keep the fight on the feet but is averaging 0.51 takedowns every 15 minutes but is only successful on 29 percent of his takedown attempts. He also stops 89 percent of his opponents takedown attempts. Kattar is also averaging 0.1 submission attempts every 15 minutes. The most impressive part about Kattar is that he seems to get better with every fight that he has been in.
On the other side of this matchup is Josh Emmett who sits with a 17-2 record overall and he has won four fights in a row. In Emmett’s last fight against Dan Ige he was actually outstruck, but still came away with the unanimous decision loss. Emmett is averaging 4.28 significant strikes per minute while absorbing 4.10 significant strikes per minute. Emmett is more opt to get the fight to the ground and is averaging 1.25 takedowns every 15 minutes and he is successful on 47 percent of his opponents takedown attempts. He also stops 58 percent of his opponents takedown attempts.
Both of these guys are great technical boxers and this should be a great fight. One big advantage for Kattar in this fight is he is more durable and he also has more experience in five-round fights. Emmett is going to come out hot, but as the fight goes on, I expect Kattar is going to take over. This fight will go five rounds with Kattar coming away with a victory. Back Kattar by decision.
