UFC Fight Night 207: Alonzo Menifield vs. Askar Mozharov Picks and Predictions

Alonzo Menifield vs. Askar Mozharov face off on Saturday in a light heavyweight showdown in the main card at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. This fight is going to be one that people are going to want to tune in to, and if you look away for a second, you could miss the finish. 

Alonzo “Atomic” Menifield comes into this game with an 11-3 record overall and he has won two of his last three fights. Menifield’s last win came against William Knight, and he was outstruck 55-44 and that led to the unanimous decision loss. His last win came against Ed Herman in August of 2021. He outstruck Herman 93-41 and won that fight by unanimous decision. Menifield is averaging 3.86 significant strikes per minute while absorbing 3.43 significant strikes per minute. He is averaging 0.44 takedowns every 15 minutes but he is only successful on 20 percent of his takedown attempts. He also stops 83 percent of his takedown attempts. 

On the other side of this matchup is the Askar Mozharov who is dealing with a ton of controversy heading into this fight. At one point it was believed that Morzharov was 25-7, but there has been a shakeup and it looks like his actual record is 21-12, although there is a chance that could change again. Mozharov has won three fights in a row, and each were in the first 27 seconds of the fight. On November 25th of 2020 he faced off against Evgeiny Golub and he won by leg kicks and punches 19 seconds into the fight. The biggest problem for Mozharov though is he has been inconsistent at times, and there are some questions about which version will show up for this fight.
