UFC on ESPN 35: Andre Fili vs. Joanderson Brito Picks and Predictions

Andre Fili and Joanderson Brito face off on Saturday in a main card showdown in a featherweight matchup at the UFC Apex in Las Veags. 

Andre “Touchy” Fili comes into this fight with a 21-8 record overall but his last win came three fights ago. Two fights ago against Bryce Mitchell, Fili was taken down seven times and lost by unanimous decision. Fili’s last fight came against Daniel Pineda and that fight was a no-contest. Fili was winning that fight it seemed until an accidental eyepoke ended the fight in a noncontest. Fili is averaging 3.80 significant strikes per minute while absorbing 3.86 significant strikes per minute. Fili likes to get the fight to the ground, averaging 2.60 takedowns every 15 minutes and he is successful on 50 percent of the takedown attempts. He also stops 68 percent of his opponents takedown attempts. Fili is a well-rounded fighter, but he hasn’t been that impressive in terms of winning fights. 

On the other side of this fight is Joanderson Brito who sits with a 12-3-1 record overall and will be fighting for the second time inside the UFC. Brito had won 11 fights in a row before he was defeated in the last fight against Bill Algeo. Brito had two takedowns in that fight, but was outstruck 59-40 and that led to the defeat. Each of Brito’s last three wins has been by unanimous decision, and he is going to need to try and finish the fight early. Brito also is going to need to try and stop Fili from the takedown.
