Vicente Luque and Belal Muhammad face off on Saturday in a welterweight showdown in the main event of UFC Fight NIght 206 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

These two guys faced off all the way back in 2016 and it was Luque that finished that fight by knockout just over a minute into the first round.

Vincente “The Silent Assassin” Luque comes into this fight with a 21-7-1 record overall and he has won four fights in a row. In the last fight against Michael Chiesa in August of 2021 he locked in D’Arce Choke midway through the first round, and finished the fight. Each of the last two wins by Luque has been by D’Arce Choke. Luque is averaging 5.65 significant strikes per minute while absorbing 5.67 significant strikes per minute. He is averaging 0.64 takedowns every 15 minutes and he is successful on 50 percent of the attempts. Luque is also averaging 1.0 submission attempts every 15 minutes.

On the other side of this matchup is the Belal Muhammad who sits with a 20-3 record overall and another ended in a no-contest. Muhammad has won six of his last seven fights and the other was a no-contest. Muhammad’s last fight was against Wonderboy Thompson and it was an easy victory. Muhammad outstruck Thompson 58-19 and also had seven takedowns. He is averaging 4.55 significant strikes per minute while absorbing 3.61 significant strikes per minute. Muhammad wants to get the fight to the ground and is averaging 2.20 takedowns every 15 minutes. He is successful only 33 percent of the time but stops 91 percent of his opponents takedown attempts.

Luque won the last fight against Muhammed but that was a long time ago and this time it will be different. I expect Muhammad will get the fight to the ground and once he is there is going to dominate the fight.
