Pat Sabatini and TJ Laramie face off on Saturday in a featherweight showdown in the main card of UFC Fight NIght 206 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
Pat Sabatini comes into this fight with a 16-3 record overall and since coming into the UFC he has won three fights in a row. Sabatini’s last fight came against Tucker Lutz in November of 2021 and he was able to win by unanimous decision. He had five takedowns in that fight and was enough to win. Sabatini is averaging 1.35 significant strikes per minute while absorbing 1.44 significant strikes per minute. Sabatini wants to get the fight to the ground and he is averaging 2.82 takedowns every 15 minutes. He is successful on only 35 percent of his takedown attempts though, and he needs to try and improve that as his UFC career goes on. In this fight look for Sabatini to try and get the fight to the ground and once he gets it there he is going to try and lock down a decision or try to finish by submission.
On the other side of this matchup is the TJ Laramie who comes into this game with a 12-4 record overall and since coming into the UFC he has gone 1-1. He won his first fight in Dana White’s Contender Series by knockout, but in his last fight against Darrick Minner, he got himself in a bad position and lost by submission. Laramie was outstruck 15-0 and just 52 seconds into the fight he lost by Guillotine Choke. Laramie is averaging 2.73 significant strikes per minute while absorbing 3.24 significant strikes per minute. He is averaging 2.56 takedowns every 15 minutes and he is successful on 50 percent of his takedown attempts. In this fight, Laramie can’t get himself in a bad position.
TJ Laramie looked awful in his last fight, and I don’t see any way he can get a win against Sabatini. I expect Sabatini is going to get the fight to the ground and once he gets there he is going to dominate the fight. Laramie is going to put himself in a bad position again, and Sabatini is going to win this fight by submission.
