Jake Collier and Chase Sherman face off on Saturday in a heavyweight showdown in the co-main event of UFC Vegas 46 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
Jake “The Prototype” Collier comes into this fight with a 12-6 record overall but he has lost two of his last three fights. Collier’s last fight came against Carlos Felipe in June of 2021 and he was competitive but lost by split decision. Collier actually outstruck Felipe 130-94, but still lost by that split decision. Collier is averaging 5.52 significant strikes per minute while absorbing 4.44 significant strikes per minute. Collier is averaging 5.52 significant strikes per minute while absorbing 4.44 significant strikes per minute. For the most part he likes to keep the fight on the feed but he is averaging 0.48 successful takedowns every 15 minutes and he is successful on 21 percent of his takedown attempts.
On the other side of this matchup is Chase Sherman who sits with a 15-8 record overall but he has lost five of his last six fights. In the last fight against Parker Porter he was outstruck 149-117 and was taken down once as he lost by unanimous decision. Sherman is averaging 6.24 significant strikes per minute while absorbing 6.33 significant strikes per minute. Sherman is a fighter who keeps the fight on the feet and doesn’t have any takedowns in the UFC. Sherman also stops 82 percent of his opponents takedown attempts. Sherman has had a lot of hype around him, but this is a fight that he is going to need to win or his stay in the UFC could be close to over.
This should be a very entertaining fight with both guys wanting to keep this one on their feet. Sherman has struggled a bit coming into this fight, but he is still the better fighter. Sherman inflicts a ton of damage and he is going to get to Collier in this one. I’m not sure Sherman will get the finish, but he will win. Back Sherman on the money line and cash the plus money value.
Shane’s Pick Chase Sherman +105
