Ketlen Vieira and Miesha Tate face off on Saturday in a women’s bantamweight showdown in the main event of UFC Fight Night 198 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
Ketlen Vieira comes into this fight with an 11-2 record overall but she has lost two of her last three fights. Her last fight came in February against Yana Kunitskaya and it wasn’t all that close. She did have three takedowns in that fight, but she only had seven significant strikes compared to her opponent who had 47. She was able to make it the distance, but she lost by unanimous decision. Vieria’s last win came in September of 2020 and she won that one by unanimous decision. She is averaging 2.66 significant strikes per minute while absorbing 3.84 significant strikes per minute. She is also averaging 2.19 successful takedowns every 15 minutes and she is successful on 48 percent of her takedown attempts. Vieira also stops 92 percent of opponents' takedown attempts. If she came away with a victory, it would be her biggest victory to date.
On the other side of this matchup is Miesha Tate who sits with a 19-7 record overall and she is hoping to continue the hot comeback. Tate’s last win came against Marion Reneau in July and it was early in the third round she finished the fight by knockout. Tate outstruck her opponent 66-25 and also had three takedowns. Tate is averaging 2.13 significant strikes per minute while absorbing 2.68 significant strikes per minute. Tate is a solid wrestler averaging 2.16 successful takedowns every 15 minutes. She also tries to finish the fight by submission, averaging 1.5 submission attempts every 15 minutes. Tate has made it clear she wants to fight for a belt, and to climb towards that goal she needs to win this fight.
The wrong fighter is favored in this game. Tate is the better fighter and she looked impressive in the last fight. Vieira is going to struggle to inflict damage on Tate and the underdog will get the job done. Back Miesha Tate on the money line.
