Aspen Ladd and Norma Dumont face off Saturday in a featherweight bout for the main event of UFC Fight Night 195 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
Aspen Ladd comes into this fight with a 9-1 record overall and since coming into the UFC she has won four of her five fights. Ladd’s last fight came all the way back in December of 2019 against Yana Kunitskaya and it was early in the third round she won by knockout. Ladd had two takedowns in that fight and really wore down Kunitskaya. Ladd is averaging 5.22 significant strikes per minute while absorbing 4.84 significant strikes per minute. Ladd wants to get the fight to the ground and is currently averaging 2.45 takedowns every 15 minutes. Ladd is successful on 75 percent of her takedown attempts. Ladd also stops 66 percent of her opponents takedown attempts.
On the other side of this matchup is Norma “The Immortal” Dumont who sits with a 6-1 record overall and she has won two of her three fights inside the UFC. Her last fight came against Ashlee Evans-Smith in May of 2021, and it was a competitive battle but she ended up squeaking out a split decision victory. Dumont is averaging 4.98 significant strikes per minute while absorbing 2.86 significant strikes per minute. Dumont is also averaging 1.79 successful takedowns every 15 minutes. She is successful on 40 percent of her takedown attempts and stops 100 percent of her opponents takedown attempts.
Ladd has had a long layoff, and that’s the only thing that really concerns me heading into this game. Ladd is the better fighter, and Dumont very easily could be sitting with a 1-2 record inside the UFC if one judge saw it a little different in the last game. Look for Ladd to dominate this fight on the ground, and that will be the difference. Back Ladd on the money line.
