Modestas Bukauskas and Khalil Rountree Jr face off on Saturday in a light heavyweight main card showdown at UFC Fight Night 191 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
Modestas Bukauskas comes into this fight with an 11-4 record overall but since coming into the UFC he has lost two of his last three fights. Bukauskas's last fight came against Michal Oleksiejczuk in March of 2021 and he lost that fight by split decision. Two of the three fights for Bukauskas ended in the first round. Bukauskas is averaging 3.77 significant strikes per minute while absorbing 4.36 significant strikes per minute. He wants to keep the fight on the feet and he is stopping 100 percent of his opponents takedown attempts. Bukauskas has knockout power, but too often he isn’t aggressive enough.
On the other side of this matchup is Khalil Rountree Jr who sits with a 9-5 record overall but he has lost two fights in a row. Rountree’s last fight came against Marcin Prachnio in January of 2021 and he was dominated. Rountree was outstruck 102-49 and although he made it to the final bell, there was really no doubt that he lost the fight. Rountree Jr. comes into this fight averaging 3.06 significant strikes per minute while absorbing 3.63 significant strikes per minute. Rountree Jr also likes to keep the fight on the feet and is stopping 50 percent of his opponent's takedown attempts.
This really is a make-or-break fight, and the loser of this fight might be out of a UFC contract. Both fighters are struggling, but in terms of talent Bukauskas is better. I like the power that he has, and Bukauskas will come away with the victory.
