Ricky Turcios and Brady Hiestand face off in a bantamweight bout in a main card showdown at the UFC Vegas 35 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. The winner of this fight will be the winner of The Ultimate Fighter.
Ricky Turcios comes into this fight with an 11-2 record overall, and this will be his second fight inside the UFC. Back in July of 2017, Turcios was a part of Dana White’s Contender Series and he lost by unanimous decision. Since that loss he has had three fights, winning two of them. In Turcios last fight in February of 2020 against Kaleb Petereit and it was late in the second round he locked in an armbar and won by submission. In this fight, Turcios will probably try to get another submission attempt in and make life tough on Hiestand.
On the other side of this fight is Brady Hiestand who is an all around solid fighter, but his strength is with his wrestler. Hiestand overall has a 5-1 record and in his last fight in February of 2020, he locked in a submission attempt with a rear naked choke, and that led to a victory. Hiestand has a lot of power in his hands, and also uses his kickboxing to his advantage, Even when he does use those tools, he usually still likes to get the fight to the ground, and he will try to dominate down there.
Turcios is the favorite in this fight, but I don’t think he is going to get the job done in this fight. Hiestand is the better all-around fighter, and the power in his hands and feet will be the difference. Back Hiestand to pull the upset.
