Tai Tuivasa and Greg Hardy face off on Saturday in a main card showdown at UFC 264 in a heavyweight showdown at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Tai Tuivasa comes into this fight with a 12-3 record overall and he has won two fights in a row. Tuivasa’s last fight was against Harry Hunsucker in March of 2021 and in that fight it was early in that first round that he won by knockout. Each of the last two wins was by knockout, and there is no doubt that he is going to hunt that in this fight. Tuivasa is averaging =4.38 significant strikes per minute while absorbing 3.45 significant strikes per minute. Tuivasa likes to keep the fight on the feet and doesn’t have a takedown during his UFC career. Tuivasa is stopping 40 percent of his opponents takedown attempts. In this fight, if he can not gas out early, that could be a big advantage later on.
On the other side of this matchup is Greg Hardy who comes into this game with a 7-3 record overall and he also has one no-contest. Hardy has shown some flashes of being good, but at times he has still looked really raw. Hardy’s last fight was against Marcin Tybura in December of 2020, and it was late in the second round that he was finished by knockout. Hardy is averaging 4.83 significant strikes per minute while absorbing 3.12 significant strikes per minute. Hardy also stops 80 percent of his opponents takedown attempts. At times, Hardy’s gas tank has been an issue, and itt can’t something that hurts him here.
I don’t trust Hardy, and I think Tuivasa’s power is going to be an issue in this fight. Hardy is going to wear down, and when that happens. Tuivasa is going to land the big punch. Back Tuivasa to win this fight.
