Wellington Turnman and Bruno Silva face off on Saturday in a middleweight bout in the main card of UFC Vegas 29 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
Wellington Turman comes into this fight with a 16-4 record overall but since coming into the UFC he has a 1-2 record. In Turman’s last fight against Andrew Sanchez in August of 2020, it was late in the first round that he was knocked out. Turman is averaging 2.75 significant strikes per minute while absorbing 3.71 significant strikes per minute. Turman likes to get the fight to the ground, and he is averaging 2.63 takedowns every 15 minutes. Turman is only successful on 35 percent of his takedown attempts though. Turman is strong stopping his opponent’s takedown attempts, doing so on 100 percent of their attempts. Turman is also averaging 0.9 submission attempts every 15 minutes.
On the other side of this fight is Bruno Silva who will finally be making his UFC debut in this one. Silva signed his UFC contract over two years ago but then was suspended for two years for PED’s. Silva has denied taking any, but he was still given the suspension. For Silva, he is a knockout artist and he is going to hunt that early in this game. Silva sits with a 19-6 record overall during his career. Silva has had 16 knockouts in his 19 career wins. One big concern for Silva though is if this fight goes later in the rounds, he could have some issues.
Silva is the more talented fighter, but I think the long layoff is going to really hurt them. Turman is going to avoid the knockout, and come away with the victory.
