Aleksa Camur and Nicolae Negumeranu face off on Saturday in a light heavyweight bout in the prelim card of UFC Vegas 29 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
Nicolae Negumereanu comes into this fight with a 9-1 record overall, but that one loss did come in his last fight. Negumeranu’s only fight in the UFC came all the way back in March of 2019 against Saparbeg Safarov and it was an ugly one. Negumeranu was outstruck 70-11 and taken down three times, both things that led to the loss. Negumereanu is averaging 0.73 significant strikes per minute while absorbing 4.67 significant strikes per minute. He didn’t try to get that fight to the ground, and only stopped 40 percent of his opponent’s takedown attempts. In this fight, Negumeranu is going to need to find a way to throw some strikes early, and not be dominated in the early rounds like he was in the last fight.
ON the other side of this fight is Aleksa Camur, who sits with a 6-1 record overall, and since coming into the UFC he has gone 2-1. The only loss for Camur did come in his last fight against William Knight in September of 2020. Camur was taken down four times in that fight, and also outstruck 38-17. Camur is averaging 3.94 significant strikes per minute while absorbing 2.49 significant strikes per minute. Camur mostly likes to keep the fight on the feet but he is averaging 0.84 takedowns every 15 minutes. Camur also struggles against opponents who try to get the fight to the ground, as he stops 20 percent of his opponent’s takedown attempts.
Negumeranu is coming off a long layoff, but this is still a good spot for him. Look for Negumeranu to find success early, and Camur isn’t going to have an answer. Back Negumeranu to come away with a victory on the money line.
