Deiveson Figueiredo and Brandon Moreno face off on Saturday in the co-main event for the flyweight title at the Gila River Arena in Glendale Arizona.
This is a rematch of a fight that happened in December of 2020, and Figueiredo had more strikes, but Moreno had two more takedowns. The fight was ruled a draw, but since Figueiredo was the current champ, he got to keep the belt.
Deiveson Figueiredo comes into this fight with a 20-1-1 record overall and he had won five fights in a row before that draw in the last game. Figueiredo’s last win came on November 21st 2020 against Alex Perez and that was a fight that he won early in the first round by Guillotine Choke. Figueiredo is averaging 3.38 significant strikes per minute while absorbing 3.35 significant strikes per minute. Figueiredo is averaging 1.57 takedowns every 15 minutes and he is successful on 50 percent of his takedown attempts. He also stops 61 percent of his opponents’ takedown attempts, and in this one, he is going to need to stop Moreno from taking him down.
On the other side of this matchup is Brandon Moreno who comes into this game with an 18-5-2 record overall Moreno at times has been up and down this season, but he had won three fights in a row before that last draw. Moreno’s last win came back in November of 2020 and it was late in the first round that he won the fight by knockout. Moreno is averaging 3.41 significant strikes per minute while absorbing 3.41 significant strikes per minute. Moreno is averaging 2.01 takedowns every 15 minutes and he is successful on 45 percent of his takedown attempts. Moreno is also stopping 67 percent of his opponent’s takedown attempts. Moreno is averaging 0.6 submission attempts every 15 minutes. Moreno needs to try and get the fight to the ground early on.
Moreno is going to use the takedown to his success in this fight and that will be the difference as he pulls off the big upset. Back Moreno to come away with a victory at plus money.
