Maycee Barber and Alex Grasso face off on Saturday in the co-main event of UFC 258 in a woman’s flyweight the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

Barber is currently ranked 10th in the rankings while Grasso is ranked 15th.

Maycee “The Future” Barber comes into this fight with an 8-1 record overall and that loss did come in her last fight. Barber faced off with Roxanne Modafferi in January of 2020 and she was taken down once which seemed to be the difference as she lost by unanimous decision. Baber comes into this game fight averaging 6.02 significant strikes per minute while their defense is giving up 3.15 significant strikes per minute. Barber is averaging 0.95 successful takedowns every 15 minutes Barber is only successful on 30 percent of her takedown attempts while stopping 80 percent of her opponents takedown attempts. Barber is a knockout artist but the question still has to be if she can’t get the knockout is she able to grind out a victory.

On the other side of this fight is Alexa Grasso who comes into this game with a 12-3 record overall but since coming into the UFC she has a 3-3- record overall. Grasso’s last fight came against Ji Yean Kim and it was Grasso that was able to come away with the unanimous decision victory. Grasso comes into this fight averaging 5.35 significant strikes per minute while absorbing 3.76 significant strikes per minute. Grasso wants to keep the fight on the feet and is only averaging 0.32 successful takedowns every 15 minutes. In this fight for Grasso she needs to keep her endurance up and she needs to stay away from the powerful hands of Barber.

Grasso might be the more technical fighter, but Barber has the knockout power and that is going to be on full display in this fight. Look for Barber to hunt that knockout early, and for her to get it. Back Barber on the money line.
