Carlos Condit and Court Mcgee face off in a welterweight showdown at UFC on ESPN 16 at Fight Island at Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Carlos “The Natural Born Killer” Condit comes into this fight with a 30-13 record but he is really struggling coming into this game having lost five fights in a row but he has had a long layoff with his last fight coming late in 2018. Condit’s last fight came against MIchael Chiesa and in that fight he lost by a submission in the second round. Each of his last two fights, and three of Condit’s last four losses have been losses by submission. Condit is averaging 3.56 significant strikes per minute while absorbing 2.34 significant strikes per minute. Condit is also averaging 0.58 successful takedowns every 15 minutes and he is successful on 55 percent of his takedown attempts. Condit is averaging 1.2 submission attempts every 15 minutes.
On the other side of this fight is Court “The Crusher” McGee who comes into this fight with a 20-9 record overall but coming into this one he has lost four of the last five fights. McGee’s last fight came against Sean Brady in October of 2019 and he lost by unanimous decision. McGee was taken two times in that fight, outstruck, and that led to the loss.McGee comes into this averaging 4.86 significant strikes per minute while absorbing 3.80 significant strikes per minute. McGee is averaging 1.71 successful takedowns every 15 minutes but he is only successful on 21 percent of his attempts. McGee is also averaging 0.4 submission attempts every 15 minutes.
These are two fighters who have struggled coming into this one and it feels almost like it’s a filler for this card. That being said, Condit has had a long layoff and has not won in a long time. Look for McGee to get out to a fast start in this one and find a way to come away with the victory.
