Philipe Lins and Tanner Boser face off in a heavyweight bout at UFC on ESPN 12 which will take place at UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Like the last few events, there will be no fans in attendance for this event. There are two fighters who are currently unranked.
Philipe “Monstro” Lins will be making his second fight in the UFC when he steps into the octagon on Saturday. Lins overall has a 14-4 record overall, but he lost his last fight in the UFC. Lins faced off with Andrei Arlovski and he struggled losing by unanimous decision.
Lins was the heavyweight tournament championship in the professional fighters league back in 2018, so this is a fighter who knows how to win. Lins is a unique fighter because of the different ways that he has had his success. He has won eight fits by knockout, four fights by submission and two fights went all the way to decision. In this fight Lins needs to come out aggressive. In the last fight he started out slow and never seemed to be comfortable.
Tanner “The Bulldozer” Boser comes into this fight with a 17-6-1- record overall and since coming into the UFC he has a 1-1 record. Boser won his first fight back in October of 2019, but in December of 2019 he made it to a decision, but he struggled. Boser was outstruck 65-32 and that led to a unanimous decision loss.
Boser is averaging 4.17 significant strikes per minute while absorbing 3.23 significant strikes per minute. Boser hasn’t had a successful takedown or tried a submission attempt since he came into the UFC. Boser’s strategy is pretty simple, he wants to stand in the middle and try to throw bombs to come away with the victory.
In terms of the odds this is quite the toss-up, but there is a big advantage for Lins in this fight. He has found a lot of success in his career and he is too talented to lose this fight. Look for him to show off his power early and that will be the difference. Back Boser to come away with a win.
