Jamahal Hill and Klidson Abreu face off in a light heavyweight showdown at UFC Fight Night 176. The fight will take place at the UFC Apex with no fans in attendance. Both of these fighters are currently unranked, but they hope to open up some eyes with a victory in this fight.
Jamahal “Sweet Dreams” Hill will look to pick up his second win in the UFC on Saturday night. Hill earned his contract to the UFC with a stoppage of Alexander Poppeck in Dana White’s contender series last July. His first fight in the UFC came on January 25th at UFC Fight Night. Hill beat Darko Stosic beat by a unanimous decision, but there was more it than just the final card. HIll was actually taken down six times during the fight, but was able to get up while not taking much damage. Which led to the victory. Hill outstruck Sosic 101-31 in the fight.
Hill’s nickname says it all about what his goal is when he steps inside the octagon. He throws power punches that he hopes will get the other guy to go to sleep. In this fight, Hill will want to keep it on the feet and hope to throw haymakers to finish the job.
Klidson Abreu was scheduled to fight Gadzhimurad Antigulov on June 13rth but that bout was canceled. This is a big bout for Abreu who has struggled a bit since coming into the UFC. Overall in his career, Abreu has a 15-4 record, but since coming into the UFC he has won only one of the three fights. In his last fight in November of 2019, Abreu did get one takedown, but the scorecards didn’t go his way. Abreu lost in a split decision to Shamil Gamzatov.
On paper this is an interesting fight, but it’s not going to ake a whole lot of time to finish it. Look for Hill to throw those power punches early and that will be the difference. Abreu will be able to fiend it off for a few minutes, but Hill will get the job done in the first round. Back Hill to win this fight at a very nice price.
