Washington Nationals Betting Preview

Washington played the San Diego Padres in their last series and things didn’t go very well. The Nats were swept in that one with losses 7-6, 9-7 and 8-5. Another loss versus the Rays came Friday 3-1, then on Saturday the Nationals scored six runs in the seventh inning during an 8-1 win. Starter Jake Irvin lasted 6.0 innings with one earned run.

It’ll be Patrick Corbin in the starting pitcher role for the Nationals on Sunday. This year so far Corbin is 1-7 with a 5.46 ERA in 16 starts. Corbin is 98-125 with a 4.45 ERA in 326 career games (308 starts).

Tampa Bay Rays Betting Preview

Over on the Rays’ side, they took on the Seattle Mariners in their last set. Tampa Bay won the first pair of installments 4-3 and 11-3 but then lost 5-2 in the finale. On Saturday in game two the Rays were out-hit 13-2. Aaron Civale put up 5.2 innings with two earned runs in the start.

Taj Bradley will take the mound for the Rays on Sunday. This year Bradley is 2-4 with a 3.81 ERA in nine starts. Bradley has a career record of 7-12 with a 5.02 ERA in 32 games (30 starts) total.

Washington Nationals vs Tampa Bay Rays Prediction

I’ll lean toward the Rays but I could probably go either way here. Bradley has given up just three earned runs over 18.1 innings over his last three starts on 12 hits and eight walks. As for Corbin, he’s doing well these days also. Corbin has five earned over his last 17.1 innings total in three starts.

On Saturday the Rays were within a run at 2-1 until the seventh inning happened. There wasn’t much going on at the plate however (two hits), so it didn’t really matter in the end. Tampa Bay needs to get the bats going.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Tampa Bay Rays -127
