Washington Nationals Betting Preview

Washington is coming off a three-game series versus the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Nationals split the first pair 5-0 (loss) and 3-1 (win). In the Thursday rubber match, the Nationals were out-hit 13-4 in a 5-2 loss.

For the starter gig in the Friday opener the Nationals will go with DJ Herz. Over three starts this year (the first three starts of his career), Herz is 1-1 with a 3.77 ERA and 21 Ks in 14.1 innings total.

Colorado Rockies Betting Preview

Over on the Rockies’ side, they’re coming off a four-game series versus the Los Angeles Dodgers. Colorado lost the first pair in that set 9-5 and 11-9 before a 7-6 win in game three. On Thursday in the finale the Rockies took a tough loss 5-3. Gavin Stone went 5.1 innings with two earned in the start.

As starter for Friday’s game the Rockies will send out Dakota Hudson. In 14 starts this season Hudson is 2-9 with a 4.89 ERA. He has 41 Ks in 73.2 innings. Hudson is 40-29 with a 3.98 ERA in 128 career games (93 starts).

Washington Nationals vs Colorado Rockies Prediction

I’ll stay with the Rockies. Probably not touching this one, though. Hudson hasn’t been terrible over his last three starts, totaling eight earned runs in 16.1 total innings during that stretch. Hudson is just 0-2 in that trio, however. As for Herz, he’s coming off his first win in a nice outing versus the Marlins (6.0 clean innings; one hit; no walks).

On Thursday the Rockies fell into an early 5-0 hole and couldn’t climb their way out despite a good day from a few hitters. Colorado also used five arms out of the pen, so they may be a little short Friday.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Colorado Rockies -105
