The Toronto Blue Jays and the Tampa Bay Rays will meet on Tuesday night in the opening game of a three-game American League East series at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Toronto Blue Jays Betting Preview

The Toronto Blue Jays enter Tuesday’s contest with a 61–65 overall record (5th in the American League East) and a 28–32 mark on the road. The Blue Jays offense has struggled this season. Toronto has compiled 492 runs scored, 195 doubles, a .242 team batting average, and 116 home runs which ranks 29th in Major League Baseball.

The Blue Jays arrive at tonight’s game in good form. Toronto has won five of the team’s last seven games played this season, including a 3–1 victory over the New York Yankees earlier this week.

Toronto will turn to right hander Jose Soriano in this game. In 24 starts made this season, Soriano has compiled a 9–6 win loss record, a 3.14 ERA (14th in MLB), a 1.25 WHIP and 134 strikeouts in 133.2 innings pitched. Soriano arrives at this contest in good form, allowing one earned run or fewer in three of his last four starts made in 2026.

Shifting our focus to the Blue Jays offense, the Toronto lineup features third baseman Ernie Clement and designated hitter George Springer. Ernie Clement has amassed a .281 batting average (25th in MLB), 28 doubles, 16 walks, 38 RBIs and a .720 OPS. George Springer has tallied 12 home runs, 14 doubles, 39 walks, 37 RBIs and a .691 OPS.

Tampa Bay Rays Betting Preview

The Tampa Bay Rays enter Tuesday night’s matchup with a 75–49 overall record (1st in the American League East) and a rather impressive 42–21 mark at home. Tampa Bay arrives at this contest in below average form. The Rays have lost three of the team’s last four games, including a 10–2 loss to the Baltimore Orioles two days ago.

Tampa Bay will start right hander Nick Martinez in today’s game. In 23 starts made in 2026, Martinez has compiled a 12–3 record, a 2.74 ERA, a 1.09 WHIP (14th in MLB) and 78 strikeouts in 138 innings pitched. Martinez had issues on the mound recently, allowing four earned runs or more in two of his last three starts made this season.

The Tampa Bay Rays lineup features first baseman Yandy Diaz and third baseman Junior Caminero. Yandy Diaz enters this contest with a .304 batting average (8th in MLB), 17 home runs, 69 RBIs and an .835 OPS. Junior Caminero has tallied a .274 batting average and a .910 OPS which ranks 20th in the MLB.

Why the Toronto Blue Jays will win.

• Offensive balance. Ernie Clement and George Springer lead the Blue Jays lineup.

• Starting pitching. Jose Soriano has compiled a 9–6 win loss record, a 3.14 ERA (14th in MLB), a 1.25 WHIP and 134 strikeouts in 133.2 innings pitched.

• Current form. The Toronto Blue Jays have won five of the team’s last seven games.

Why the Tampa Bay Rays  will win.

• Home field edge. Tampa Bay has played outstanding baseball (42–21) at Tropicana Field this season.

• Offensive balance. Yandy Díaz and Junior Caminero provide a strong core to the Rays lineup.

• Motivation. The Tampa Bay Rays have lost three of the team’s last four games.

Toronto Blue Jays vs. Tampa Bay Rays Prediction

In my view, this matchup favors the Toronto Blue Jays. Why? Toronto starting pitcher Soriano arrives at this contest in good form, allowing one earned run or fewer in three of his last four starts made in 2026. Conversely, Tampa Bay hurler Martinez had issues on the mound recently, allowing four earned runs or more in two of his last three starts made this season. Although the Blue Jays have had issues offensively this season, I like the team’s chances of scoring runs tomorrow and staying competitive in this one. I am backing the Toronto Blue Jays plus the 1.5 runs in this game.

Hans Geevers's Pick: Toronto Blue Jays +1.5
