The Tampa Bay Rays and the Boston Red Sox will meet on Saturday afternoon in the third game of a four‑game American League East series at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts.

Tampa Bay Rays Betting Preview

The Tampa Bay Rays enter Saturday’s contest with a 56–40 overall record (1st in the American League East) and a 21–25 mark on the road. The Rays offense has been competitive to this point in the season. Tampa Bay has compiled 425 runs scored, 134 doubles, a .235 team batting average and 125 home runs which ranks sixth in Major League Baseball.

The Rays arrive at this game in below average form. More specifically, Tampa Bay has lost three consecutive games, including an 8–2 loss to the Seattle Mariners five days ago.

Tampa Bay will turn to left hander Ian Seymour in this contest. In six starts made this season, Seymour has compiled a 6–2 win‑loss record, a 4.59 ERA, a 1.16 WHIP and 75 strikeouts, while allowing 51 hits and 24 walks in 64.2 innings pitched. Seymour struggled in his most recent outing, allowing six earned runs across 3.1 innings pitched in the Seattle Mariners 8-2 defeat of the Tampa Bay Rays last week.

The Tampa Bay Rays have compiled a quality lineup this season featuring first baseman Yandy Diaz and third baseman Junior Caminero. Yandy Diaz enters this contest with a .314 batting average (3rd in MLB), 13 home runs, 55 RBIs and an .869 OPS. Junior Caminero has tallied a .281 batting average.

Boston Red Sox Betting Preview

The Boston Red Sox enter Saturday afternoon’s matchup with a 48–48 overall record (3rd in the American League East) and a dreadful 19–27 mark at home. Boston has played competitive baseball recently, winning eleven of the team’s last twelve games, including a thrilling 3-2 victory over the New York Mets last week.

Boston will start left hander Patrick Sandoval in this game. In one start made this season, Sandoval has compiled a 2.08 ERA, a 1.38 WHIP and 5 strikeouts, while allowing 5 hits and 1 walk in 4.1 innings pitched. Sandoval will look to build on his performance in his first start of the regular season in tomorrow’s matchup with the Tampa Bay Rays.

The Boston Red Sox lineup features outfielder Wilyer Abreu and first baseman Willson Contreras. Wilyer Abreu enters this contest with a .263 batting average, 13 home runs, 20 doubles, 46 RBIs and a .777 OPS. Wilson Contreras has compiled a .285 batting average, 21 home runs (19th in MLB), 16 doubles and 62 RBIs.

Why the Tampa Bay Rays will win.

• Offensive upside. Yandy Díaz and Junior Caminero continue to anchor the Tampa Bay Rays lineup.

• Starting pitching. In six starts made this season, Ian Seymour has compiled a 6–2 win‑loss record, a 4.59 ERA, a 1.16 WHIP and 75 strikeouts in 64.2 innings pitched.

• Motivation factor. The Tampa Bay Rays arrives at this contest on the heels of a three-game losing streak.

Why the Boston Red Sox will win.

• Starting pitching. In one start made this season, Patrick Sandoval has compiled a 2.08 ERA, a 1.38 WHIP and 5 strikeouts, while allowing 5 hits and 1 walk in 4.1 innings pitched.

• Offensive balance. Wilyer Abreu and Willson Contreras provide a strong core to the Boston Red Sox lineup.

Tampa Bay Rays vs. Boston Red Sox Prediction

In my opinion, the way to go in this contest is the total rather than a side. Why? I see a game where both starting pitchers are vulnerable to offensive production. Tampa Bay starting pitcher Ian Seymour is coming off a rough outing where he allowed six earned runs to the Seattle Mariners, while Boston Red Sox hurler Patrick Sandoval has only one start under his belt in 2026. With that said, I am backing over 8.5 runs in this game.

Hans Geevers's Pick: Over 8.5
