St. Louis Cardinals Betting Preview

In their last series the Cardinals played the Atlanta Braves. St. Louis lost 3-2 in the opener of that set, then took wins 9-5 and 6-2 in the remaining pair. On Monday in the opener versus the Pirates, the Cards took a tough loss 2-1. Andre Pallante had 6.0 innings with one earned run in the start.

In the starter role for the Cardinals on Tuesday it’ll be Lance Lynn. This year Lynn is 5-4 with a 4.39 ERA in 19 starts. Lynn is 141-99 with a 3.77 ERA in 360 career games (336 starts).

Pittsburgh Pirates Betting Preview

Over on the Pirates’ side, they lost to the Phillies 8-7 and 4-1 in their first two games this weekend, but staved off the sweep with a 6-0 win Sunday. On Monday in their Cardinals opener the Pirates got 7.0 innings and one earned from starter Mitch Keller.

It’ll be Paul Skenes in the starter slot for the Pirates on Tuesday. In the first 11 starts of his career Skenes is cooking at 6-0 with a 1.90 ERA. He has 89 Ks in 66.1 innings total.

St. Louis Cardinals vs Pittsburgh Pirates Prediction

I’ll stay with the Pirates. Skenes is on a roll as he kicks off his career. His last outing versus Milwaukee was perhaps his best yet, with 7.0 clean no-hit frames, 11 Ks and one walk in a victory. As for Lynn, he gave up 10 earned in 2.2 innings on July 6 versus the Nats, but bounced back for a win over the Cubs in his next outing.

On Monday the Pirates were only able to cash in a couple of times but it was enough to supplement a stellar pitching outing. Pittsburgh only used a couple of arms out of the pen (one inning each for Chapman and Bednar) so they’ll be fresh for Skenes’ start Tuesday.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Pittsburgh Pirates -164
