Starting Pitching Matchup

The San Francisco Giants will start Hayden Birdsong here and Birdsong is 1-0 with a 3.72 ERA and 18 strikeouts this season. This will be Birdsong’s first career start against the Rockies. The Colorado Rockies will start Austin Gomber here and Gomber is 2-6 with a 4.61 ERA and 67 strikeouts this season. San Francisco Giants Recap

The San Francisco Giants come into this one looking to salvage something from the set and avoid the sweep after a 4-3 loss in Saturday’s matchup. The loss meant that the Giants would lose the series and would be unable to build on their series win over the Minnesota Twins prior to the all-star break.

Giants Trying To Find Consistency

Thairo Estrada has 71 hits along with 9 home runs and 43 RBIs while also chipping in 14 doubles. Michael Conforto has 59 hits with 10 home runs, 16 doubles and 39 RBIs while Matt Chapman has 85 hits of his own alongside 25 doubles with 13 homers, 43 RBIs and 10 stolen bases. Chapman also has the dubious distinction of leading the Giants with 97 strikeouts this season.

Why the San Francisco Giants will win

Colorado Rockies Recap

Rockies Looking To Play Spoiler

Ezequiel Tovar leads the Rockies with 112 hits including a team-high 28 doubles with 122 strikeouts as well this season while Ryan McMahon leads the Rockies with 14 home runs and 45 RBIs along with 21 doubles and 117 strikeouts as well. Brenton Doyle’s added 16 doubles and a team-high 20 stolen bases as well and Elias Diaz has a team-best .283 batting average this season.

Why the Colorado Rockies will win

Giants vs. Rockies Prediction

I’m on the Rockies here. The Giants just haven’t been able to put it together coming out of the all-star break, and while Austin Gomber isn’t necessarily my favorite option for Colorado as a starter, there’s no denying that he’s capable of delivering a solid start and the Rockies bats have come alive to back him up. All in all I think this is going to be an entertaining matchup, but I think the Rockies complete the sweep in this one.
