San Francisco Giants Betting Preview

The Giants played the Los Angeles Angels over the weekend. San Francisco lost the first two installments of that set 8-6 and 4-3 before a 13-6 Sunday win staved off the sweep. On Monday versus the Cubs, the Giants eked out a 7-6 win. Jordan Hicks went 5.0 clean frames in the start with four hits, four walks and four Ks.

Logan Webb will take starter duties for the Giants on Tuesday. This year so far Webb is 6-5 with a 3.02 ERA and 78 Ks in 92.1 innings over 15 starts. Webb is 48-37 with a 3.36 ERA in 128 career games (125 starts).

Chicago Cubs Betting Preview

Over on the Cubs’ side, they played the rival St. Louis Cardinals over the weekend. Chicago managed a 5-1 win in the Saturday game but otherwise lost 3-0 and 2-1 in the other pair. On Monday the Cubs scored four times in the seventh inning and had 10 hits but still lost. Starter Javier Assad lasted 5.0 innings with one earned run on five hits and two walks.

It’ll be Justin Steele in the starting pitcher role for the Cubs on Tuesday. This year Steele is 0-3 with a 3.22 ERA and 48 Ks in 50.1 innings over nine starts. Steele has a career record of 24-19 with a 3.29 ERA in 83 games (72 starts).

San Francisco Giants vs Chicago Cubs Prediction

I’ll stick with the Cubs. Steele is going to need some help from the offense but should be able to put together a nice outing. In his last three starts combined Steele is 0-1 but he’s got just two earned in 18.0 total innings. As for Webb, he’s given up nine earned in 20.0 innings over his last three starts.

On Monday Chicago was up 6-3 going into the eighth inning but still found a way to lose the game with some rough bullpen performances. Offensively the Cubs did pretty well though, so that’s a plus. The pitching does need to come around Tuesday.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Chicago Cubs -110
