San Francisco Giants Betting Preview

Over the weekend, the Giants took on the Los Angeles Dodgers. In that matchup San Francisco lost 14-7 Saturday but otherwise won 5-3 in the opener and 10-4 in the finale to take the series. On Tuesday versus the Braves, the Giants came back from a 2-0 deficit and won 5-3. Hayden Birdsong managed 5.0 innings and two earned runs in the start.

As starter for Wednesday’s game it’ll be Jordan Hicks. In his 17 starts this year Hicks is 4-4 with a 3.36 ERA overall. Hicks is 15-25 with a 3.72 ERA in 229 career games (25 starts).

Atlanta Braves Betting Preview

Over on the Braves’ side, they had a decent series versus the Pittsburgh Pirates over the weekend. Atlanta won 6-1 and 2-1 in the first two games before a 4-2 Sunday loss spoiled the sweep. On Tuesday the Braves couldn’t get much going on six team hits. Starter Reynaldo Lopez left after 4.1 innings and two earned runs.

Chris Sale will toe the rubber in the start for the Braves on Wednesday. So far this year Sale is 10-3 with a 2.79 ERA in 15 starts. Sale is 130-83 with a 3.09 ERA in 358 career games (278 starts).

San Francisco Giants vs Atlanta Braves Prediction

I’ll stay with the Braves. Sale is playing great this year and should pitch well Wednesday—even though he’s coming off a loss. In his last three starts combined, Sale is 2-1 with just four earned in 19.0 innings on 10 hits and six walks. As for Hicks, he’s 0-1 in his last pair with eight earned runs in 9.0 total innings.

On Tuesday the Braves had a pretty spotty performance on the mound and couldn’t do much with the bats outside of two homers (from Austin Riley and Sean Murphy). Sale should set the table Wednesday; the Atlanta pen and offense need to step up in game two.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Atlanta Braves -217
