San Diego Padres Betting Preview

In their early-week series the Padres took on the Pittsburgh Pirates and did very well. San Diego swept that one with wins 6-0, 9-8 and 7-6. In the Friday opener versus the Marlins, the Padres came back from a 2-0 deficit for a 6-2 victory. Starter Martin Perez finished with 7.0 innings and two earned runs.

Matt Waldron will take the mound for the Padres on Saturday. Waldron is 7-9 with a 3.79 ERA and 116 Ks.

Miami Marlins Betting Preview

Over on the Marlins’ side, they played the Cincinnati Reds in their last set. Outside of a 6-4 win in game three, Miami dropped the remaining three games 10-3, 8-2 and 10-4. On Friday the Marlins coughed up four runs in the 10th inning and could only score themselves in the fourth. Edward Cabrera managed 7.0 innings, no earned, four hits and three walks.

Roddery Munoz will take the mound for the Marlins on Saturday in the start. This year Munoz is 2-6 with a 5.68 ERA in the first 14 games (13 starts) of his career).

San Diego Padres vs Miami Marlins Prediction

I’ll probably lean toward the Padres. At least some of that is due to Munoz’s recent struggles, though. He did have a win versus the Rays on July 31 with two earned in 5.0 innings, but in the other two of Munoz’s last three starts he’s 0-1 with 10 earned in 8.2 innings.

On Friday the Padres took a while to get going at the plate but it all worked out in the end. The pitching was great too; the bullpen came through with 3.0 innings, one hit, no walks and three strikeouts. It’d be nice to see San Diego’s bats activate a little earlier on Saturday but I think they’ll be okay.
