San Diego Padres Betting Preview

Early this week the Padres took on the Washington Nationals. San Diego did well in that series, bagging a sweep with wins 7-6, 9-7 and 8-5. The Padres continued with another win over Boston 9-2 on Friday. In game two the Padres cruised to a blowout win 11-1. Michael King was great in the start with 6.0 innings and one earned run.

Matt Waldron will take the start for the Padres on Sunday for the finale. This year over his 16 starts Waldron is 5-6 with a 3.43 ERA. In his career Waldron is 6-9 with a 3.72 ERA over 24 games (22 starts).

Boston Red Sox Betting Preview

Over on the Boston side, they played a couple of games versus the Toronto Blue Jays this week. The Sox won 7-6 in game one then lost 9-4 Tuesday. (Game three was suspended and will be made up in August.) On Saturday Boston was out-hit 16-6 and committed three errors. Tanner Houck gave up most of the damage with seven earned in 4.1 innings as starter.

Josh Winckowski is set to be the Red Sox’ starter for Sunday’s matchup. This year Winckowski is 1-1 with a 3.26 ERA over 13 games (three starts). In his 88 career games (18 starts), Winckowski is 10-12 with a 4.09 ERA.

San Diego Padres vs Boston Red Sox Prediction

I’ll stay with the Padres. Waldron is on a pretty good run these days. Over his last three starts combined Waldron is 1-1 with five earned runs in 20.0 innings total. As for Winckowski, he’s got three earned over his last 8.0 innings in three appearances.

On Saturday the Padres took full advantage of their one big inning (six runs in the fifth) and didn’t look back from there. I think San Diego has another good day at the plate Sunday.

Andrew Jett's Pick: San Diego Padres -105
