In this article we will formulate a Reds vs Astros prediction for this MLB game on Saturday, May 10th at Daikin Park in Houston, Texas. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this MLB matchup.

Cincinnati Reds Betting Preview

The Cincinnati Reds are 19-21 this season after they lost game one by a score of 3-0 on Friday night. Cincinnati fell behind in the second inning, which was enough for the loss, as the offense didn’t do anything. The Reds recorded four hits and they committed one error in the game, while they were led by Espinal, who had one hit and one walk in the loss. Cincinnati started Martinez, who allowed 10 hits and three earned runs over 6.0 innings, while Suter finished the last two out of the bullpen.

Prior to this series, the Reds lost three out of four against the Braves and two out of three against the Nationals. Cincinnati has lost six of their last eight games and they are currently fourth in the NL Central standings. The Cincinnati pitching staff has a 3.57 ERA with a 1.14 WHIP and a .216 opponent batting average, while their offense has scored 185 runs with a .239 batting average and a .320 on base percentage this season. Elly De La Cruz has led Cincinnati with five home runs and 25 RBIs, while Austin Hays has added five home runs and 13 RBIs this year. The projected starting pitcher for Cincinnati is Brady Singer, who is 4-2 with a 3.66 ERA and a 1.14 WHIP over 39.1 innings pitched this season.

Houston Astros Betting Preview

The Houston Astros are 19-18 this year after they won game one on Friday night by a score of 3-0. Houston scored one run in the second and two in the fifth for the victory. The Astros recorded 12 hits in the game and they were led by Pena, Paredes, and Dezenzo, who all had one RBI in the win. Houston started Brown, who allowed two hits and zero earned runs over 5.2 innings for the win, while Hader picked up the save.

Prior to this series, the Astros lost two out of three against the Brewers and two out of three against the White Sox. Houston has lost five of their last eight games and they are currently third in the AL West standings. The Houston pitching staff has a 3.27 ERA with a 1.13 WHIP and a .213 opponent batting average, while their offense has scored 148 runs with a .244 batting average and a .314 on base percentage this season. Jeremy Pena has led Houston with five home runs and 17 RBIs, while Isaac Paredes has added four home runs and 16 RBIs this year. The projected starting pitcher for Houston is Lance McCullers Jr., who is 0-0 with a 0.00 ERA and a 1.64 WHIP over 3.2 innings pitched this year.

Reds vs Astros Prediction

Houston was able to pick up the win in a low scoring game on Friday night and they are 12-7 at home. The Astros have only allowed one run in their last two games and they are starting McCullers Jr., who is making just his second start of the year. Cincinnati is 10-11 on the road and they have lost six of their last eight games overall. The Reds are starting Singer, who has allowed two earned runs or fewer in two of his last three starts. I don’t like anything about how Cincinnati is playing right now, but I do trust Singer more than McCullers Jr. at this stage of the season. Take the Reds to win.
