The Pittsburgh Pirates and the Toronto Blue Jays will meet on Saturday afternoon in the second game of a three‑game interleague series at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada.

Pittsburgh Pirates Betting Preview

The Pittsburgh Pirates enter Saturday’s contest with a 26–25 overall record (4th in the National League Central) and a 13–11 mark on the road. The Pirates offense has been competitive to this point in the season. Pittsburgh has compiled 250 runs scored (5th in MLB), 74 doubles, 52 home runs and a robust .253 batting average which ranks fourth in Major League Baseball.

The Pirates arrive at tomorrow’s game in below average form. Pittsburgh has lost five of the team’s last seven games played this season, including a 9–6 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals four days ago.

Pittsburgh will turn to right hander Paul Skenes in this contest. In ten starts made this season, Skenes has compiled a 6–3 win‑loss record, a 2.62 ERA (16th in MLB), a 0.71 WHIP (1st in MLB) and 63 strikeouts, while allowing 31 hits and 8 walks in 55.0 innings pitched. Skenes will look to continue his recent dominant performances on the mound in tomorrow’s matchup with the Toronto Blue Jays.

The Pittsburgh Pirates lineup features outfielder Oneil Cruz and third baseman Nick Gonzales. Cruz has tallied a .252 batting average, 10 home runs (25th in MLB), 33 RBIs (13th in MLB), 18 walks, 16 stolen bases (3rd in MLB) and a .765 OPS. Nick Gonzales has compiled a .323 batting average (7th in MLB), 13 walks, 7 doubles. 3 stolen bases and a .753 OPS.

Toronto Blue Jays Betting Preview

The Toronto Blue Jays enter Saturday afternoon’s matchup with a 24–27 overall record (3rd in the American League East) and a 14–11 mark at home. Toronto has played good baseball recently, winning three consecutive games, including a thrilling 2–1 victory over the New York Yankees earlier this week.

Toronto will start left hander Patrick Corbin, who remains a veteran presence in the Blue Jays starting pitching rotation. In eight starts made this season, Corbin has compiled a 1–1 record, a 4.23 ERA, a 1.49 WHIP and 25 strikeouts, while allowing 44 hits and 13 walks in 38.1 innings pitched.

The Toronto Blue Jays have compiled a productive lineup this season featuring second baseman Ernie Clement and third baseman Kazuma Okamoto. Clement enters this contest with a .297 batting average (18th in MLB), 3 home runs, 16 RBIs, 8 walks and a .756 OPS. Kazuma Okamoto leads the Blue Jays with 10 home runs, 27 RBIs and a .700 OPS.

Why the Pittsburgh Pirates will win.

• Starting pitching advantage. Paul Skenes has compiled a 6–3 win‑loss record, a 2.62 ERA (16th in MLB), a 0.71 WHIP (1st in MLB) and a massive 63 strikeouts in 55.0 innings pitched.

• Offensive potential. Nick Gonzales and Oneil Cruz continue to anchor the Pirates lineup.

• Enhanced motivation. Pittsburgh has lost five of the team’s last seven games played this season.

Why the Toronto Blue Jays will win.

• Home field advantage. The Blue Jays have played competitive baseball at Rogers Centre this season compiling a 14-11 record.

• Corbin’s experience. Patrick Corbin has amassed a 4.23 ERA and a 1.49 WHIP in eight starts this season.

• Offensive balance. Ernie Clement and Kazuma Okamoto have provided the Blue Jays with consistent offensive production.

Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Toronto Blue Jays Prediction

In my opinion, this matchup favors the Pittsburgh Pirates. Paul Skenes enters tomorrow’s contest with a 6-3 record, a 2.62 ERA and a 0.71 WHIP, clearly illustrating that he is one of the best starting pitchers in Major League Baseball. Conversely, Patrick Corbin has been far less consistent and now faces a Pirates lineup that has performed well above expectations offensively through the first two months of the season. With that said, Pittsburgh is the clear side to be on in this one. I am backing the Pittsburgh Pirates on the moneyline in this game.
