Pittsburgh Pirates Betting Preview

The Pirates took on the New York Mets in a lengthy weekend series. Pittsburgh won 14-2 Friday then fell 5-2 and 3-2 in the next pair. On Monday in the finale game four, the Pirates would end up scoring five in the sixth inning during an 8-2 win. Starter Mitch Keller was great with 8.0 innings and two earned on seven hits.

Josh Fleming will open up a bullpen game for the Pirates on Tuesday. Martin Perez is set for Wednesday, and Paul Skenes will be the starter for the Thursday finale.

Milwaukee Brewers Betting Preview

Over on the Brewers’ side, they played the Los Angeles Dodgers over the weekend. Milwaukee lost 8-5 Friday and 5-3 in game two, but staved off the sweep with a 9-2 win in the finale. In that victory the Brewers got 12 team hits and 4.1 clean frames from starter Dallas Keuchel.

Colin Rea will take the starter gig for the Brewers on Tuesday. This year Rea is 8-2 with a 3.34 ERA in 17 games (15 starts). In his career Rea is 22-16 with a 4.39 ERA in 79 games (64 starts).

Pittsburgh Pirates vs Milwaukee Brewers Prediction

I’ll try the Brewers in this one. Rea had a rough time back on June 21 versus the Padres with 5.1 innings and five earned runs. Since then Rea has looked much better with 12.1 combined innings and two earned runs over two starts, winning both. I think he’ll keep rolling Tuesday.

Milwaukee hasn’t had any issues scoring lately. They’ve hit three or more runs in a whopping 17 straight games. With a quality outing from Rea and a handful of scores here, the Brewers should be in great shape.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Milwaukee Brewers -164
