The New York Yankees and the Toronto Blue Jays will meet on Friday night in the opening game of a three‑game American League East series at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada.

New York Yankees Betting Preview

The New York Yankees enter Friday’s contest with a 41–26 overall record (2nd in the American League East) and a 22–14 mark on the road. The Yankees lineup has been one of the most productive units in Major League Baseball this season. Through 67 games played in 2026, New York has compiled 342 runs scored (6th in MLB), 108 doubles, a .243 team batting average and 97 home runs which ranks first in Major League Baseball.

The Yankees arrive at tomorrow’s game in strong form. More specifically, New York has won five of the team’s last six games played this season, including a 6–1 victory over the Boston Red Sox last week.

New York will turn to left hander Ryan Weathers in this contest. In twelve starts made this season, Weathers has compiled a 2-4 win‑loss record, a 3.86 ERA, a 1.16 WHIP and 79 strikeouts which ranks 20th in Major League Baseball, while allowing 61 hits and 20 walks in 70 innings pitched.

The New York Yankees lineup features second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. and first baseman Ben Rice. Chisolm Jr. enters this contest with 9 home runs, 10 doubles, 26 walks, 29 RBIs, 17 solen bases and a .717 OPS. Ben Rice has compiled a .295 batting average (17th in MLB), 45 RBIs, 18 home runs (6th in MLB) and a 1.005 OPS which ranks 11th in Major League Baseball.

Toronto Blue Jays Betting Preview

The Toronto Blue Jays enter Friday night’s matchup with a 33–36 overall record (3rd in the American League East) and a robust 20–16 mark at home. Toronto arrives at this contest in below average form. The Blue Jays have lost seven of the team’s last eleven games played this season, including a 5–2 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies three days ago.

Toronto will start right hander Trey Yesavage in tomorrow’s game. In eight starts made this season, Yesavage has compiled a 2–3 record, a 3.16 ERA, a 1.17 WHIP and 44 strikeouts, while allowing 31 hits and 19 walks in 42.2 innings pitched. Yesavage will look to rebound from his recent poor performances on the mound in tomorrow’s matchup with the New York Yankees.

Turning our attention to the Blue Jays offense, the Toronto lineup features third baseman Ernie Clement and first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Ernie Clement has amassed a .304 batting average (10th in MLB), 19 doubles, 9 walks, 27 RBIs and a .789 OPS. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has tallied a .282 batting average, 3 home runs, 11 doubles, 34 walks, 26 RBIs and a .740 OPS.

Why the New York Yankees will win.

• Offensive balance. Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Ben Rice continue to lead the New York Yankees lineup.

• Recent momentum. New York has won five of the team’s last six games entering tomorrow’s contest.

Why the Toronto Blue Jays will win.

• Home field advantage. The Toronto Blue Jays have amassed a 20-16 record at home.

• Offensive production. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Ernie Clement provide a strong core to the Toronto lineup.

New York Yankees vs. Toronto Blue Jays Prediction

In my view, the way to go in this matchup is the total rather than a side. Why? New York starting pitcher Ryan Weathers has allowed at least 5 earned runs and 2 home runs in two consecutive games (the Yankees lost both), while Toronto hurler Trey Yesavage has allowed at least 5 earned runs in two of his last three outings which leads me to believe that this contest will be a high scoring affair. For the reasons just noted, I am backing over 8.5 runs in this game.

Hans Geevers's Pick: Over 8.5
