New York Yankees Betting Preview
New York took on the rival Boston Red Sox over the weekend and didn’t do very well. The Yankees won 14-4 on Saturday but otherwise took losses 5-3 and 3-0. After a 5-3 loss to the Rays in the opener, on Wednesday New York was able to finally get a win 2-1. Marcus Stroman left after 4.1 innings with one earned on seven hits and two walks.
In the starter role for the Thursday finale the Yankees will send out Nestor Cortes. This year Cortes is 4-7 with a 3.41 ERA in 19 starts. Cortes has a career record of 28-18 with a 3.73 ERA in 123 games (75 starts).
Tampa Bay Rays Betting Preview
Over on the Rays’ side, they played the Texas Rangers in their weekend series. Tampa Bay got swept in that one with losses 3-0, 4-3 and 13-2. Following their two-run win over New York on Tuesday, in game two the Rays had 10 team hits but plated just one run. Starter Zach Eflin lasted 7.0 innings with one earned run.

I’ll stay with the Rays. Most of that is due to not being able to trust the Yankees these days, though. Baz didn’t pitch especially well in his debut with three earned on seven hits and a walk versus the Rangers. That said, he did make it through 6.0 innings. As for Cortes, he’s coming off 6.0 innings with one earned versus Boston. Cortes went 0-2 in his previous two starts, though.
On Wednesday the Rays got on base a lot with their 10 team hits. That said, Tampa couldn’t cash in on much of anything outside of Yandy Diaz’s lone RBI. The good news is that the pitching staff was pretty great (one earned run total). I like the Rays to bounce back and win the series in the rubber match. Should be a good game.
