In this article we will formulate a Minnesota Twins vs St. Louis Cardinals prediction for this MLB game on Sunday, March 30th at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this MLB matchup.

Minnesota Twins Betting Preview

The Minnesota Twins are 0-2 this year after they lost by a score of 5-1 on Saturday. Minnesota allowed a run in the first inning, but they did tie the game at one in the second on a Castro double. The Twins only recorded three hits in the game and went scoreless in the final seven innings. Larnach went 1-3 in the game, while Castro went 1-3 with an RBI. Joe Ryan started on the mound for Minnesota and he allowed one earned run on five hits over 5.0 innings, while Alcala allowed three earned runs and two hits, while failing to record an out for the loss.

Last season, the Minnesota pitching staff had a 4.26 ERA with a 1.23 WHIP and a .242 opponent batting average, while their offense scored 742 runs with a .246 batting average and a .315 on base percentage. Minnesota was 10th in the MLB in runs scored last year, but just 21st in team ERA. The Twins were led by Carlos Santana last season, but he is no longer on the team, while Ryan Jeffers hit .226 with 21 home runs and 64 RBI’s. The projected starting pitcher for Minnesota is Bailey Ober, who was 12-9 with a 3.98 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP over 178.2 innings pitched for the Twins last year.

St. Louis Cardinals Betting Preview

The St. Louis Cardinals are 2-0 this season after they won game two in this series by a score of 5-1 yesterday. St. Louis scored in the first inning on an Arenado RBI single and added three more in the sixth to take the lead. The Cardinals recorded 10 hits in the game, but they did commit an error. Lars Nootbaar went 2-3 with two RBI’s in the win, while Donovan, Arenado, and Herrera added one RBI each. St. Louis started Erick Fedde, who allowed one earned run and two hits over 6.0 innings, while Fernandez, Romero, and Maton combined for three shutout innings out of the bullpen.

Last year, the St. Louis pitching staff had a 4.04 ERA with a 1.26 WHIP and a .249 opponent batting average, while the offense scored 672 runs with a .248 batting average and a .312 on base percentage. The Cardinals were ranked 22nd in the MLB in runs scored last season and need to find more consistent hitting this year. St. Louis was led by Paul Goldschmidt last season, but he is no longer with the team, while Alec Burleson hit .269 with 21 home runs and 78 RBI’s. The projected starting pitcher for St. Louis is Andre Pallante, who was 8-8 with a 3.78 ERA and a 1.30 WHIP over 121.1 innings pitched last year for the Cards.

Minnesota Twins vs St. Louis Cardinals Prediction

Minnesota comes into this matchup trying to avoid a third straight loss to open the season, but they need their bats to wake up, as they have scored a total of four runs in the first two games. St. Louis has scored five runs in each of the first two games of the series and they will turn to Pallante, who was very good last season. Minnesota will counter with Ober, who also had a very nice 2024 season and had a WHIP of just 1.00. I think we are going to see another lower scoring game here and I like the under in this game.

David Racey's Pick: Under 8.5
