In this article we will formulate a Mets vs Nationals prediction for this MLB game on Friday, April 25th at Nationals Park in Washington, DC. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this MLB matchup.

New York Mets Betting Preview

The New York Mets are 18-7 this year after they swept the Phillies in three games by scores of 5-4, 5-1, and 4-3. In their game three win, the Mets blew an early 2-0 lead, but they were able to rally in the 10th inning, where they scored twice for the win. New York recorded 10 hits and they committed one error in the game, while they were led by Baty, who went 1-2 with one home run and two RBIs in the win. The Mets started Peterson, who allowed eight hits and two earned runs over 5.1 innings, while Kranick pitched the final two outs in the top of the 10th to get the win.

Prior to that series, the Mets swept the Cardinals in three games, but did lose two out of three against the Twins before that. New York has won seven games in a row and they are currently first in the NL East standings. The New York pitching staff has a 2.34 ERA with a 1.18 WHIP and a .217 opponent batting average, while the offense has scored 105 runs with a .234 batting average and a .310 on base percentage this season. Pete Alonso has led New York with six home runs and 26 RBIs, while Brandon Nimmo has added four home runs and 10 RBIs this year. The projected starting pitcher for New York is Kodai Senga, who is 3-1 with a 0.79 ERA and a 0.97 WHIP over 22.2 innings pitched this year.

Washington Nationals Betting Preview

The Washington Nationals are 11-14 this season after they won two out of three against the Orioles by scores of 7-0, 4-3, and 1-2. In their game three loss, the Nationals led 1-0 in the second inning, but couldn’t find anymore offense in the loss. Washington recorded five hits in the game and they were led by Bell, who had their lone RBI in the loss. The Nationals started Gore, who allowed four hits and two earned runs over 6.0 innings in the loss, while Ferrer and Henry pitched three scoreless innings in relief.

Prior to that series, the Nationals won two out of three against the Rockies, but did lose three out of four against the Pirates before that. Washington has won four of their last six games and they are currently fourth in the NL East standings. The Washington pitching staff has a 4.69 ERA with a 1.40 WHIP and a .253 opponent batting average, while the offense has scored 105 runs with a .232 batting average and a .301 on base percentage this season. James Wood has led Washington with eight home runs and 18 RBIs, while Nathaniel Lowe has added four home runs and 19 RBIs this year. The projected starting pitcher for Washington is Jake Irvin, who is 2-0 with a 3.68 ERA and a 1.06 WHIP over 29.1 innings pitched this season.

Mets vs Nationals Prediction

New York comes into this series on a nice winning streak and they have one of the best records in the MLB, but they are just 6-6 on the road. Washington has also had some success in their last two series and they are 7-5 at home. The Nationals are coming off of a tough loss on Thursday night against Baltimore and they will go against Senga, who has allowed a grand total of zero earned runs in his last three starts. On the other side, New York will go up against Irvin, who has allowed two earned runs in his last two starts (13.1 IP). I like both pitchers in this matchup and I lean towards the under here.

David Racey's Pick: Under 8.5
