In this article we will formulate a Marlins vs Braves prediction for this MLB game on Saturday, August 9th at Truist Park in Atlanta, Georgia. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this MLB double header.

Miami Marlins Betting Preview

The Miami Marlins are 57-58 this season after they split the first two games in this series by scores of 6-8 and 5-1. In their game two win, Miami scored the first five runs in the game and cruised to the victory. The Marlins recorded nine hits in the game and they were led by Hernandez, who went 2-4 with two RBIs in the win. Miami started Cabrera, who allowed two hits and one earned run over 8.0 innings for the win, while Faucher closed out the game.

Prior to this series, the Marlins lost two out of three against the Astros, but did sweep the Yankees in three games before that. Miami has lost three of their last five games and they are currently third in the NL East standings. The Miami pitching staff has a 4.43 ERA with a 1.30 WHIP and a .249 opponent batting average, while the offense has scored 497 runs with a .253 batting average and a .316 on base percentage this season. Kyle Stowers has led Miami with 25 home runs and 71 RBIs, while Agustin Ramirez has added 17 home runs and 52 RBIs this year. The projected starting pitcher for Miami in game one is TBD. The projected starting pitcher in game two is Sandy Alcantara, who is 6-10 with a 6.44 ERA and a 1.42 WHIP over 116.0 innings pitched this year.

Atlanta Braves Betting Preview

The Atlanta Braves are 48-67 this year after they lost game two by a score of 5-1 on Friday night. Atlanta had a hard time getting the offense going and only scored once in the sixth inning. The Braves recorded just two hits in the game and they were led by Profar, who went 1-3 with one home run and one RBI in the loss. Atlanta started Elder, who allowed seven hits and five earned runs over 6.0 innings for the loss, while Dodd pitched the final three innings.

Prior to this series, the Braves lost all three against the Brewers, but did win two out of three against the Reds before that. Atlanta has lost four of their last five games and they are currently fourth in the NL East standings. The Atlanta pitching staff has a 4.25 ERA with a 1.29 WHIP and a .241 opponent batting average, while their offense has scored 477 runs with a .241 batting average and a .317 on base percentage this year. Matt Olson has led Atlanta with 18 home runs and 68 RBIs, while Sean Murphy has added 16 home runs and 43 RBIs this year. The projected starting pitcher for Atlanta in game one is Hurston Waldrep, who is 1-0 with a 1.59 ERA and a 0.88 WHIP over 5.2 innings pitched this year. The projected starting pitcher for game two is Erick Fedde, who is 3-12 with a 5.32 ERA and a 1.48 WHIP over 111.2 innings pitched.

Marlins vs Braves Prediction

These two teams have split the first two games in this series, as they begin a very rare five game set this weekend. The Marlins are 29-27 on the road this year, while the Braves are 27-30 at home. In game one, I really like how Waldrep pitched in his first outing and I think he can find more success against this Miami lineup. In game two, I have to fade Fedde, who has been pretty bad all year. Take the Braves to win game one and the Marlins to win by at least two runs in game two.

David Racey's Pick: Game 1: Braves ML Game 2: Marlins -1.5
