The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Arizona Diamondbacks will meet on Monday night in the opening game of a four‑game National League West series at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona.

Los Angeles Dodgers Betting Preview

The Los Angeles Dodgers enter Monday’s contest with a 38–21 overall record (1st in the National League West) and an 18–10 mark on the road. The Dodgers offense has been one of the most productive units in Major League Baseball this season. Los Angeles has compiled 314 runs scored (3rd in MLB), 100 doubles, 83 home runs and a rather impressive .263 team batting average which ranks first in Major League Baseball.

The Dodgers arrive at tomorrow’s game in strong form. Los Angeles has won seven of the team’s last eight games played this season, including a 4–1 victory over the Colorado Rockies earlier this week.

Los Angeles will turn to right hander Emmet Sheehan in this contest. In ten starts made this season, Sheehan has compiled a 3–1 win‑loss record, a 4.70 ERA, a 1.24 WHIP and 59 strikeouts, while allowing 50 hits and 14 walks in 51.2 innings pitched. Sheehan will look to continue his recent efficient performance on the mound in tomorrow’s matchup with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have compiled a formidable lineup featuring outfielder Andy Pages and designated hitter Shohei Ohtani. Pages enters this contest with a .294 batting average (18th in MLB), 13 home runs, 50 RBIs (1st in MLB) and an .881 OPS. Shohei Ohtani has tallied a .280 batting average, 10 home runs, 6 stolen bases, 31 RBIs and an .894 OPS which ranks 17th in Major League Baseball.

Arizona Diamondbacks Betting Preview

The Arizona Diamondbacks enter Monday night’s matchup with a 31–27 overall record (3rd in the National League West) and an 18–10 mark at home. Arizona arrives at this contest in below average form. The Diamondbacks have lost three of the team’s last four games played this season, including a 7–6 loss to the Seattle Mariners two days ago.

Arizona will start left hander Eduardo Rodríguez in tomorrow’s game. In eleven starts made this season, Rodríguez has compiled a 5–1 record, a 2.31 ERA (9th in MLB), a 1.21 WHIP and 49 strikeouts, while allowing 55 hits, 25 walks, and 5 home runs in 66.1 innings pitched. Rodríguez has been one of the most effective pitchers in the National League this season.

Offensively, the Arizona Diamondbacks lineup features outfielder Corbin Carroll and first baseman Ildemaro Vargas. Corbin Carroll has tallied a .287 batting average, 7 home runs, 28 RBIs, 26 walks and an .916 OPS (11th in MLB). Vargas has amassed a robust .295 batting average (16th in MLB), 7 home runs, 37 RBIs and a .786 OPS.

Why the Los Angeles Dodgers will win.

• Elite offense. Andy Pages and Shohei Ohtani continue to lead the Los Angeles Dodgers lineup.

• Overall team strength. The Dodgers have compiled a 38–21 win-loss record, a .262 team batting average which ranks first in Major League Baseball.

• Recent momentum. Los Angeles has won seven of the team’s last eight games played this season.

Why the Arizona Diamondbacks will win.

• Starting pitching advantage. Eduardo Rodríguez has compiled a 5-1 record, a 2.31 ERA and 1.21 WHIP across eleven starts made this season.

• Home field advantage. Arizona has compiled an 18–10 record at Chase Field this season.

• Offensive balance. Corbin Carroll and Ildemaro Vargas provide the Diamondbacks lineup with consistent production.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Arizona Diamondbacks Prediction

In my opinion, this matchup favors the Los Angeles Dodgers. Los Angeles arrive at this contest in good form, winning even of the team’s last eight games played. Conversely, the Diamondbacks are in poor form, losing three consecutive games. The Dodgers offense has been exceptional this season, leading Major League Baseball in overall team batting average and third in home runs. Additionally, the Dodgers have amassed an 18-10 record on the road. For the reasons just noted, I am backing the Los Angeles Dodgers on the moneyline in this game.
