The Kansas City Royals and the Atlanta Braves meet Friday in MLB action from Truist Park. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a Kansas City Royals vs. Atlanta Braves prediction.
Starting Pitching Matchup
The Kansas City Royals will send out Cole Ragans for the start here and Ragans was 3-3 with a 4.67 ERA and 98 strikeouts last season. This will be Ragans’ first career start against the Braves. Chris Sale will start here for Boston and was 7-5 with a 2.58 ERA and 165 strikeouts last season. In his last five starts against the Royals, Sale is 4-0 with a 1.27 ERA and 45 strikeouts.
Kansas City Royals Recap
The Kansas City Royals come into the 2026 season looking to build on a resilient 2025 campaign where they finished 82-80, narrowly missing a Wild Card berth by five games. Pitching was the strong suit of KC, as they struck out a ton of batters and were 6th in ERA, but the offense struggled to be consistent. However, KC will bring back their solid core of Bobby Witt Jr., Vinnie Pasquantino and Salvador Perez as well as making additions with the signings of Lane Thomas and Starling Marte. The Royals will hope for continued growth from youngsters Jac Caglianone and the debuting Carter Jensen if they want to contend for the AL Central this season.
Atlanta Braves Recap
The Atlanta Braves come into the 2026 season looking to wash away the stink of a 2025 campaign that saw them finish 76-86, their first losing season and playoff absence since 2017. The Braves started the year 0-7 and never were able to get their feet back underneath them. The hope is that Ronald Acuna Jr. and Drake Baldwin can stay healthy to lead the offense, mainly because this whole roster is scattered with injuries, including the starting rotation that’s missing Spencer Strider, Spencer Schwellenbach and Hurston Waldrep all on the shelf. Only time will tell if the Braves can navigate the choppy waters of the injury front and get themselves back in the mix in the NL East.

Kansas City Royals vs. Atlanta Braves Prediction
I’m on the Braves here. I think that this is a spot where Chris Sale just shows up to dominate as he did for much of the season, especially at home, and I think the Braves do enough here to get Sale the W. I’m not sold on this KC lineup right out of the gate, especially against a lefty of Sale’s caliber. Give me the Braves here.
