Houston Astros Betting Preview

The Astros took on the Tampa Bay Rays over the weekend. Houston won the Friday matchup before dropping the next pair. After a 4-3 loss to the Rangers in the opener, in the Tuesday game Houston posted 11 team hits in a 4-2 win. Starter Framber Valdez nearly went the distance on 8.2 innings and two earned runs.

It’ll be Yusei Kikuchi in the starter slot for the Astros on Wednesday. So far Kikuchi is 4-9 with a 4.67 ERA in 23 starts. Kikuchi is 36-46 with a 4.71 ERA in 157 games (145 starts) over his career.

Texas Rangers Betting Preview

Over on the Rangers’ side, they played the Boston Red Sox in their last series. Texas managed a 7-4 win in the Saturday matchup but lost the other two games 11-6 and 7-2 to drop the set. On Tuesday the Rangers could only muster one hit, but it was a big one. Starter Tyler Mahle finished with 5.0 innings and one earned run.

As starter for Wednesday’s matchup the Rangers didn’t immediately announce a name.

Houston Astros vs Texas Rangers Prediction

I might take a stab on the Astros. So long as Kikuchi can notch a quality start, that is. he was pretty good in his last outing, a no-decision with 5.2 innings and two earned versus Tampa Bay. Prior to that however, Kikuchi had nine earned in 9.2 innings of work over two starts.

On Tuesday the Astros got a stellar outing from Valdez and a few really nice performances at the plate. With a fresh bullpen Wednesday I like Houston to keep it rolling in game three.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Houston Astros -120
