In this article we will formulate a Guardians vs Tigers prediction for this MLB game on Monday, May 18th at Comerica Park in Detroit, Michigan. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this MLB matchup.

Cleveland Guardians Betting Preview

The Cleveland Guardians are 26-22 this year after they won two out of three against the Reds by scores of 6-7, 7-4, and 10-3. In game three, Cleveland scored two runs in the first inning and never looked back in the lopsided win. The Guardians recorded 12 hits in the game and they were led by Manzardo, who went 2-5 with two home runs and three RBIs. Williams allowed eight hits and two earned runs over 6.0 innings for the win, while Heuer allowed one earned run in relief. Prior to that series, Cleveland won all three against the Angels, but lost two out of three against the Twins before that.

This season, Cleveland has a 3.86 ERA with a 1.28 WHIP and a .238 opponent batting average, while they have scored 210 runs with a .232 batting average and a .327 on base percentage. Chase DeLauter has led the Guardians with seven home runs and 28 RBIs, while Jose Ramirez has added seven home runs and 19 RBIs. The projected starting pitcher for Cleveland is Slade Cecconi, who is 2-4 with a 5.60 ERA and a 1.58 WHIP over 45.0 innings pitched this year.

Detroit Tigers Betting Preview

The Detroit Tigers are 20-27 this season after they lost two out of three against the Blue Jays by scores of 3-2, 1-2, and 1-4. In game three, Detroit struggled at the plate all game, but did score once in the eighth to avoid the shutout. The Tigers recorded six hits and they committed one error in the game, while they were led by Jones, who went 0-1 with one RBI. Flaherty allowed five hits and four earned runs over 6.0 innings for the loss, while De Jesus threw 1.2 scoreless innings in relief. Prior to that series, Detroit lost all three against the Mets and two out of three against the Royals.

This season, Detroit has a 3.95 ERA with a 1.29 WHIP and a .239 opponent batting average, while they have scored 188 runs with a .239 batting average and a .321 on base percentage. Dillon Dingler has led the Tigers with eight home runs and 28 RBIs, while Riley Greene has added four home runs and 23 RBIs. The projected starting pitcher for Detroit is Framber Valdez, who is 2-2 with a 4.32 ERA and a 1.36 WHIP over 50.0 innings pitched this season.

Guardians vs Tigers Prediction

Detroit comes into this matchup really struggling over the last few weeks and they have been terrible at scoring runs during that span. The Tigers are 13-8 at home this year, while the Guardians are 11-12 on the road. Cleveland has won four of their last five games and they have scored 23 runs in their last three. The Guardians are starting Cecconi, who has allowed 4+ earned runs in three of his last five starts, while Valdez has allowed two earned runs or fewer in four of his last five outings. I don’t love the Tigers offense, but I will take them to win here.
