In this article we will formulate a Giants vs Mets prediction for this MLB game on Sunday, August 3rd at Citi Field in New York. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this MLB matchup.

San Francisco Giants Betting Preview

The San Francisco Giants are 55-56 this year after they split the first two games with New York by scores of 4-3 and 6-12. In their game two loss, San Francisco led 4-3 in the fourth inning, but they allowed the next nine runs for the loss. The Giants recorded 10 hits and they committed one error in the game, while they were led by Adames and Smith, who both had two RBIs in the loss. San Francisco started Teng, who allowed four hits and five earned runs over 3.1 innings for the loss, while Beck allowed five earned runs in relief.

Prior to this series, the Giants lost all three games against the Pirates and all three games against the Mets. San Francisco has lost seven of their last eight games and they are currently third in the NL West standings. The San Francisco pitching staff has a 3.70 ERA with a 1.28 WHIP, and a .243 opponent batting average, while the offense has scored 453 runs with a .232 batting average and a .311 on base percentage this season. Wilmer Flores has led San Francisco with 12 home runs and 59 RBIs, while Willy Adames has added 17 home runs and 59 RBIs this year. The projected starting pitcher for San Francisco is Carson Whisenhunt, who is 0-0 with a 7.20 ERA and a 1.40 WHIP over 5.0 innings pitched this year.

New York Mets Betting Preview

The New York Mets are 63-48 this season after they won game two by a score of 12-6 on Saturday afternoon. New York led 3-0 in the first inning, but they trailed 4-3, before erupting for nine more runs in the victory. The Mets recorded 13 hits in the game and they were led by Lindor, who went 3-4 with four RBIs in the win. New York started Senga, who allowed five hits and four earned runs over 4.0 innings, while Garrett picked up the win in relief.

Prior to this series, the Mets lost all three games against the Padres, but did sweep the Giants in three games before that. New York has lost four of their last five games and they are currently first in the NL East standings. The New York pitching staff has a 3.59 ERA with a 1.31 WHIP and a .240 opponent batting average, while the offense has scored 488 runs with a .241 batting average and a .321 on base percentage this season. Pete Alonso has led New York with 24 home runs and 86 RBIs, while Juan Soto has added 25 home runs and 63 RBIs this year. The projected starting pitcher for New York is Frankie Montas, who is 3-1 with a 5.46 ERA and a 1.45 WHIP over 29.2 innings pitched this season.

Giants vs Mets Prediction

New York finally snapped their winning streak with a strong offensive showing on Saturday afternoon, as they continue to hold off the Phillies in the NL East. The Mets are 38-17 at home this year, while the Giants are 27-30 on the road. San Francisco has really had issues in the last 10 games and they are starting Whisenhunt, who allowed five hits and four earned runs to the Pirates in his first outing. New York is going with Montas, who has allowed at least four earned runs in three of his last five starts. I don’t like the pitching matchup and I think we will see some scoring, so take the over here.
