In this article we will formulate a Diamondbacks vs Cubs prediction for this MLB game on Friday, April 18th at Wrigley Field in Chicago, Illinois. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this MLB matchup.

Arizona Diamondbacks Betting Preview

The Arizona Diamondbacks are 12-7 this year and they have won five games in a row. Arizona is coming off of a series win against Miami, where they won all three games by scores of 10-4, 6-2, 6-4. In that game three win, the Diamondbacks scored two runs in the first inning and they pulled away in the third and fourth innings for the win. Arizona recorded five hits and they committed two errors in the game, while they were led by Smith and Naylor, who both had a home run in the win. Arizona started Rodriguez, who allowed 10 hits and one earned run over 5.1 innings pitched, while Puk allowed one hit in the ninth and got the save.

Prior to that series, the Diamondbacks won two out of three against the Brewers and two out of three against the Orioles. The Arizona pitching staff has a 4.07 ERA with a 1.20 WHIP and a .227 opponent batting average, while their offense has scored 104 runs with a .254 batting average and a .347 on base percentage this year. Corbin Carroll has led Arizona with six home runs and 17 RBIs, while Geraldo Perdomo has added three home runs and 18 RBIs this season. The projected starting pitcher for Arizona is Corbin Burnes, who is 0-1 with a 5.28 ERA and a 1.57 WHIP over 15.1 innings pitched this year.

Chicago Cubs Betting Preview

The Chicago Cubs are 12-9 this season and they have won three of their last five games. Chicago is coming off of a series loss to the Padres, where they lost two out of three by scores of 4-10, 2-1, and 2-4. In that game three loss, the Cubs led 1-0 in the third inning, but they allowed two runs in the third and one in the seventh, and came up just short in the late innings. Chicago recorded six hits and they committed one error in the game, while they were led by Tucker and Crow-Armstrong, who both had one RBI in the loss. Chicago started Boyd, who allowed six hits and two earned runs over 5.1 innings, while Palencia allowed one hit and one earned run in 1.2 innings of relief work.

Prior to that series, the Cubs won two out of three against the Dodgers and two out of three against the Rangers. The Chicago pitching staff has a 4.14 ERA with a 1.38 WHIP and a .251 opponent batting average, while their offense has scored 124 runs with a .255 batting average and a .340 on base percentage this season. Kyle Tucker has led Chicago with five home runs and 19 RBIs, while Seiya Suzuki has added four home runs and 15 RBIs this year. The projected starting pitcher for Chicago is Colin Rea, who is 0-0 with a 1.00 ERA and a 1.11 WHIP over 9.0 innings pitched this year.

Diamondbacks vs Cubs Prediction

Arizona comes into this series playing very well over the last week and they have scored at least five runs in five straight games. Chicago is coming off of a series loss to San Diego, but they are one of the highest scoring teams in the MLB so far this year. The Cubs are starting Rea, who isn’t expected to go very deep into this game, and I think Arizona can get to him. On the other side, the Diamondbacks are going with Burnes, who hasn’t been awful, but certainly hasn’t been good through three starts. Take the over here.
