Detroit Tigers Betting Preview

This past weekend the Tigers played the Los Angeles Dodgers. Detroit lost the first installment of that set, falling 4-3. The Tigers came back with wins in the next pair however, taking it 11-9 Saturday and 4-3 Sunday for a series victory.

For the starter gig in the Friday opener the Tigers will go with Jack Flaherty. This year Flaherty is 6-5 with a 3.13 ERA in 16 starts. Over 147 career games (141 starts) Flaherty is 48-39 with a 3.67 ERA.

Toronto Blue Jays Betting Preview

Over on the Blue Jays’ side, they played the Arizona Diamondbacks in their last series. Toronto dropped the first two installments of that set 5-4 and 12-1. In the Sunday finale however, the Jays eked out an 8-7 win to stave off the sweep.

As starting pitcher for Friday’s game the Blue Jays are sending out Chris Bassitt. So far Bassitt is 8-7 with a 3.52 ERA in 19 starts. Bassitt is 70-49 with a 3.49 ERA in 188 career games (175 starts).

Detroit Tigers vs Toronto Blue Jays Prediction

I’ll take a stab on the Tigers. Flaherty has one rough start over his last three, and two good ones. In the two good ones Flaherty went 2-0 with just two earned runs in 11.2 innings total. In the outlier Flaherty took a loss to the Angels with 5.2 innings and five earned on seven hits and one walk. He’s only got the one start in July so far, though.

Detroit has been scoring well lately, so that’s good news. The Tigers have managed three or more runs in six straight games. If they can keep up that offensive output Flaherty should be able to set the team up well.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Detroit Tigers -109
