Game 1 Prediction: The Tigers have a clear edge on the mound here as Montero is in fantastic form, allowing 18 hits and 9 runs in his last 28.2 innings. Allen has been solid this season overall, but he’s coming off an August where he allowed 6 hits and 4 runs in 7 innings. I’m also not a fan of openers. I’ll lean toward the Tigers in the opening game.
Game 2 Prediction: Sears has just 6.2 MLB innings under his belt, so the jury is still out, and I like my pitchers with a sample size. Griffin has been a top-20 pitcher in baseball this season with a 3.21 ERA and 1.12 WHIP, and he’s allowed 25 hits and 11 earned runs in 25 innings since coming over from Washington. It’s hard to sweep doubleheaders. Give me the Guardians in game 2.
